Courses and Teaching Responsibilities
As a senior lecturer in Emory University's Journalism Program, I was responsible for teaching, advising and mentoring students, introducing new technology into our curriculum and developing new courses or revamping existing ones to meet the needs of our students. Since 2004, I have taught a mix of introductory courses, freshman seminars, advanced courses and an interdisciplinary course at Emory University and NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. They include:
Journalistic Inquiry
Introduction to News Reporting and Writing
News Literacy: The Past, Present and Future of News
News Literacy in a Digital Age
Advanced News Reporting and Writing
Digital Media Workshop
News Video
Internship in Journalism (JRNL 496)
Introduction to Media Studies (Film and Media Studies/IDS/Visual Arts)
In addition to these courses, I serve on honors thesis committees, teach and advise students taking independent study courses and teach a class on public speaking in the Emory Master of Science in Clinical Research Program to help physicians and doctoral scientists prepare presentations for external grant proposals.
